The CAndyroot

A small flower with deep roots.

Candyroot is named for a small native plant that grows in sandy soil. It’s resilient, unassuming, and deeply rooted in this region. That idea guides everything we’re building here.

THIS IS WHERE IT ALL COMES TOGETHER

More than a course.
A legacy taking root.

Candyroot Lodge sits on a rare stretch of naturally sandy land in the Carolina Sandhills. We’re building multiple golf courses, each walkable, thoughtfully designed, and shaped by the land itself. It’s a place to play great golf, spend time outdoors, and stay connected to the people you come with.

The Vision

An elevated golf retreat for everyone who loves the game.

We believe the best golf destinations don’t try to impress at every turn. They give the land room to speak, give the game room to breathe, and give people space to settle in. Our vision is to build a place where the noise of everyday life fades away. A place that feels considered, not constructed. One you understand quickly, enjoy immediately, and appreciate more each time you return.

The first course
Milkstone
Milkstone is Candyroot's first golf course, designed by Mike Koprowski and shaped by the natural movement of the Sandhills. Its routing follows the land through sandy ridges and native contours, creating a course that rewards imagination as much as precision. Preview play is expected to begin in Q4, 2026.

Aaron Oberman

PROPRIETOR | STRATEGY & OPERATIONS
Aaron’s path to Candyroot started in the software world, where he spent years transforming a service business into a software business, navigating growth, challenge, and eventual successful exit. He’s developed a rare mix of resilience and warmth. After selling his company, Aaron set out to combine his two passions: golf and business. A proud #girldad of three, Aaron approaches every project with the long view, building not just for today, but for the next generation of golfers.

Ethan Oberman

PROPRIETOR | VISION & DESIGN
Ethan has spent his career building things—products, spaces, companies, and teams. From film to software to real estate, his passion lies in taking an idea from sketch to reality and shaping every detail along the way. Candyroot is the culmination of everything Ethan’s built before, from the craft of design, to the discipline of entrepreneurship, and the joy of creating something lasting. During quiet moments, you’ll find him chasing his three boys and new puppy.
